What is your opinion on the use of firearms for personal protection in light of the event where a gun-toting homeowner deterred a known burglar?

I support the homeowner's actions. Personal safety is paramount and firearms offer a means of protection in such situations.
I believe in the right for personal gun ownership but the homeowner should have taken a less aggressive approach.
I'm unsure. While this situation seems to have worked out, the presence of guns in homes increases the risk of accidents.
I do not support gun ownership. There needs to be stronger policies to reduce burglary incidents in the first place.
